Scrapbooking Adventures

I've decided to make my own cards as gifts to give to my kids teachers for teacher appreciation week. I think they turned out pretty cute. I tried to make them detailed without spending too much time on them. Here is a peek into my scrapbooking world.

Today's project. Lamp overhaul

I had a lamp that needed a new lamp shade but lamp shades are very expensive these days. I decided to make my own lamp shade using just the frame of the old one. I used burlap to cover the frame and then I made fabric flowers and attached them. Total project time was about an hour and a half. I don't know how exact that time is because I couldn't tell you how many interruptions I got. It turned out really cute and was really fun to do. I used burlap because it lets a lot more light through and the room I am using it in is very dark and needs the light. I used old t-shirts and just cut the sleeves off to get strips to make the fabric flowers out of. So the faded black and grey give a good compliment to the cream color burlap fabric. I love how this project turned out.

Women's Maxi Skirt

This skirt was fun to make. Not as difficult as I originally had thought. It did take about 3 hours to make from start to finish. It is so comfortable and I love the color. It is a tan/khaki color so it will go with many things. I love it. It has a heather tint to it. I also love the stretch of the fabric because it is the same as the fabric used for yoga pants. I can't wait to wear this skirt!! I look forward to making my next one and maybe I could do it in record time. :)

Girls skirt from Women's T-shirt

This was my 2nd attempt at the yoga waistline skirt from a t-shirt. It was easier the second time. I like the way it turned out better also. I think partially because of the fabric the shirt was from. I got this shirt at a thrift store for $2. It is hard to tell the color of the skirt because the room I took the picture in has terrible lighting. The color is more of coral pink not the orange that it looks like in the picture. So excited to have my daughter wear these in the summer.

Easy Skirt

Ok so this is my first real post. I am posting the project that I just finished. I was so excited to do this project. I found it on another blog and loved it so I decided to try it out for myself. Also testing my sewing skills. I think it turned out pretty good. I made it and she didn't want to take it off. I love when kids get so excited about little things. This skirt took me just less than an hour to make. Would have been faster if I hadn't sewn something wrong and had to unpick it and re-sew. I can say that unpicking knit is definitely not fun!

This skirt with yoga waist I made out of a women's shirt that I bought at a consignment store for only $1. I have another shirt I am going to make into a skirt like this as well. I love it. Hope it turns out even better the second time.
