Mystery Quilt

I recently took a mystery quilt class.  It was a lot of fun.  I had no idea how the quilt was going to turn out and actually look until I was almost done with it.  It was an all day class and we had a great teacher.  I learned a lot of things in this class and a few new tricks I hadn't thought of before.  Thanks to Deb for making our class great and being a great teacher.  This quilt is gorgeous.  She came up with the pattern for the quilt herself.  All I did was pick the fabrics and sew them how she instructed and it turned out amazing.  I love the colors that I chose for this quilt.  I haven't finished it yet.  This is just the front because I have to save up some money to get this one machine quilted and I am waiting for the back to be ordered.  It is a gorgeous quilt and I can't wait to put this one to use.  I have 3 other quilts I am also in the process of finishing.  I have been very busy quilting lately.  It has been a lot of fun and something that my husband and I also enjoy doing together.  I look forward to sharing my other ones with you.  Hopefully soon. ;)

My husband's pirate quilt part 2

It is finished.  Here is the finished product. He did such an amazing job at everything.  I am lucky to say that I just have a very well rounded talented husband. :) I love you baby!!

Rainbow Quilt (for my little girl)

I had  bought a pattern book and found a couple of patterns I just loved and had to make the quilts.  My daughter loved this quilt in the book so I decided to make it for her.  I had to order the fabric from the front online because no one carried it in stores.  I ordered my first jelly roll and then had to wait for my second one for 3 months because it was on back order from the manufacture.  So this quilt was actually in progress since March I am sad to say.  I loved the design and the pattern was very easy to follow.  I followed it to a "T" so I was a little disappointed when the actual finished size turned out different than the measurements in the book.

My daughter picked the fabrics that we used on the back she says they are her favorite colors along with purple.  The back has cute little stars on the back and a two toned color which I love.  I ended up using a different fabric for the binding than what I had originally bought cause the purple I bought for the binding was too pastel and there is no way it would have gone with this gorgeous quilt.

I ended up having my friend that owns Fabric Seeds machine quilt this quilt for me.  She is absolutely amazing at what she does and loves to do it.  Thanks Sarah!!!!

I am glad this quilt is finally done.  Again thanks to my wonderful husband for all the help and support on another great project.  I love how this quilt turned out.

Patriotic Quilt

My friend had some fabric that she had planned on making a quilt with her grandmother.  She asked me one time if I would be interested in helping her do the quilt since she didn't sew and her grandmother was getting older and wasn't in the best shape to help her do it.  I decided that I wanted to get the fabric from her and buy some coordinating fabric and make a quilt for her for her birthday.  Her birthday was on July 13th and she wanted a patriotic quilt.  I got the fabric from her then went to the store buy a couple more colors to go with it.  I didn't follow any pattern.  I just cut all the fabric to the same size squares and then started laying it out.  I didn't like how it looked laid out on the floor so my husband and I came up with the design of this quilt together.  It turned out pretty cool.  My friend loved it and was so excited about it.  I had gotten the fabric from her on Monday and had to have it finished by Thursday night so I could give it to her on Friday for her birthday.  It was a lot of fun to give her something she wasn't expecting.  I enjoyed doing this for her and hope that she will always love it.
