Sweet BBQ Chicken Recipe

Recipe for the month of June
This recipe is a family recipe that has been passed down and is a family favorite.  If you are looking for a sweet and not spicy BBQ sauce recipe then this recipe is perfect for you.  This is my favorite homemade BBQ Sauce recipe.  If you prefer spicy then you could just add some stuff to give it a kick.  Adding cayenne pepper and chili powder to this recipe will definitely give it that kick.  This recipe is NOT spicy and is very kid and family friendly.  My kids absolutely love this chicken. Thank you mom for sharing this recipe with me.

Sweet BBQ Chicken

1 Pkg Chicken Legs or Wings
(about 18 to 20 pieces of legs or wings)

Sauce:
3/4 Cup Ketchup
1/6 Cup Soy Sauce
1/2 tsp Salt
3/4 Cup Water
1/4 Cup Vinegar
1 1/4 TBS Cornstarch
2/3 Cup Sugar
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Onion Powder
Dash of Pepper (we like to use white pepper)

Cover chicken with foil and cook in the oven at 350 degrees until the chicken is just barely not pink.  For this chicken it took about 25 minutes.

While chicken is cooking add all ingredients for the sauce in a saucepan.

Mix all ingredients for the sauce very well blending in any lumps there may be.
Bring sauce just to a boil.

Take chicken out of the oven and drain all liquid in the pan then add sauce over the top of the chicken.  Leave uncovered and place the chicken back into the oven with the sauce for another 20 to 25 minutes.  I like to take mine out half way through and use a spoon to scoop the sauce and add more on the top of the chicken so I have a thicker layer of sauce.

Remove from oven and let cool for at least 5 minutes before serving.

Hope you enjoy another of  my favorites!
