We just recently had the opportunity to do a review for the Make your Own Chocolate kit.  We absolutely loved this kit!!  This kit as with the other kits made by Glee Gum has a fun little background story to go with it.  I love to read each story and be able to learn about where the kits originated from.  This is also fun for my kids to learn about the source of where some of the products come from and how the things we eat are made.  My family and I had a lot of fun with this kit.

The directions in this kit were very easy to follow.  The steps of the Make Your Own Chocolate kit are so easy, who wouldn't want to try it?  This kit contains cocoa butter which I have never actually seen on its own before.  It is a yellowish color and when we opened the package my daughter said "mommy it smells just like chocolate".  She was right, because cocoa butter is derived from the cocoa bean and used in making chocolate.  It was really fun to teach my children about each separate ingredient.  

This kit also came with cacao beans.  My daughter was very curious and wanted to try one.  In the kit it gives you a story and background about where the cacao beans came from and that they put them in the kit for people to try.  We decided to give these little beans a taste just as they were.  My daughter took a bite and at first said it was good then she said it was very yucky.  This was due to the bean being bitter and not sweet.  I had to explain to her that this is where chocolate comes from and that it started with a bean and that we added the other ingredients to make it sweet.  I myself also tried the bean knowing it would be bitter but it wasn't too bad.  It was a good experience for my family and myself and if we had not tried this kit would probably never have had the chance to try a cacao bean.

My family and I really enjoyed this experience and these chocolates.  These chocolates have a really good flavor.  To me they taste a little more like dark chocolate which I like because I am a fan of dark chocolate.  My family also really enjoyed these chocolates and my kids kept asking for more.  This was a fun process to do as a family.  If you are looking for something fun to do with you kid or even something new to try just on your own I recommend you try the Glee Gum Make Your Own Chocolate Kit!
